Marble would be too delicate for me as well, at least in the kitchen or dining area. Only regular impregnation with professional products helps, and that is labor-intensive.
Granite is quite unproblematic. Since my childhood, I have known granite and marble as coverings on the ground floor. We always mopped with combined cleaning and care products, and the granite looks like it did on the first day. Compared to that, the marble is somewhat dull, but still absolutely appealing and timeless after 25 years. You probably can't say that about parquet after such wear.
When my wife mops herself, she says that the granite is particularly easy to mop.
