In the living room, preferably marble. We don’t want a scratched and high-maintenance floor there.

And the bedroom? Cork as in the children's room?

Can you make it look as nice as bamboo?

Then choose granite even better than marble.

I would have preferred granite over marble, but my wife does not want that.

With bamboo, you can clearly see the fibers and also, I don’t know what to call it, the cross joints of the plant, one should be aware of that. Nowadays you can get cork in almost any style, even ones that look like regular parquet... but it’s all a question of money.

Natural stone floors, especially marble, I would not exactly call easy to maintain either. They only shine with proper care and the right products must be used. Acid is taboo and with lime-containing water it gets tricky with marble, as the typical "anti-limescale" products immediately attack the stone, and so on.

Marble would be too delicate for me as well, at least in the kitchen or dining area. Only regular impregnation with professional products helps, and that is labor-intensive.

Granite is quite unproblematic. Since my childhood, I have known granite and marble as coverings on the ground floor. We always mopped with combined cleaning and care products, and the granite looks like it did on the first day. Compared to that, the marble is somewhat dull, but still absolutely appealing and timeless after 25 years. You probably can't say that about parquet after such wear.

When my wife mops herself, she says that the granite is particularly easy to mop.
