Good, not the ultimate, but: it’s also not a shame to be content with the small upgrade. If you have an apartment you like – then what speaks against rebuilding the same one as a detached house with four window sides and paying the rent to the bank in the future?
I’m from the East myself; we don’t need everything "from Dior" ;-)

I’m not an Ossi, but a native Pole :-). But when it comes to living, Ossis and Poles didn’t differ much. We lived with 4 people in 55 sqm. When I came to Germany with my family, we lived for a year with four people in a 22 sqm room and it worked wonderfully, because we were in Germany and there was a lot to discover, including supermarkets (I didn’t know those like that :-)). That was really a positive shock experience.

That is probably why for many Wessis some things and the tight space in our floor plan are off-putting, while for us it is pure luxury :)

Exactly. And then it also makes sense to look for inspiration in Polish catalogs. I like it in our trizonal exile – I just find it a pity that West Germans don’t understand the difference between a dacha and a small garden plot. At least since the fall of the wall, there have been a few more Eastern women here.

I had suspected this rectangle in the middle to be a piece of furniture, but maybe it's because it looks wrong on my small screen right now. If it were my furniture, that would be the square meters, which I wouldn't consider usefully utilized. From my side, you don't have to change anything at all, and I don't expect anyone to implement my ideas immediately since I always change my own ideas repeatedly. But I do mean the general acceptance of criticism, namely to accept it completely open-ended. You don't have to defend anything at all. Often it is the case, though, that it's hard to let go of decided things and one sticks to them or can't see the potential added value of something else. Nobody is waiting to throw you under the bus; people actually see the points that way, which is why I would look at it very carefully. Of course, one can also say: "We've always done it this way, and that's enough for me," but as soon as you post a floor plan, you invite criticism. It helps me not to overlook things or to question myself more closely. Why don't you really post all the real furniture as well, clearly readable with dimensions?

I simply refer to the passage where I mention short walls and dark living space. Changing a few things often means allowing changes as well. I planned our floor plan myself and allowed rotating, leaving out a wall just to see how a corner looks without a wall/short wall, possibly separating a hallway. I like the zoning, and I also liked that in Evolith's house. However, I would change quite a few things and then plan something "better" for myself. Some things, and then an open spatial feeling arises. See also

But it is "your" house. Let it be good. I wish that for you. I believe... laugh... the way you took my criticism hostile back then, you would feel better if you think it couldn't be "my" house ;)

It is the roof hatch. Or rather, the foldable ladder that leads to the attic :-)
