It might also possibly be due to the region. In the south, for example, they waterproof with Triflex, which is never a topic here in Brandenburg. Here are a few pictures of their work. I also don't understand why it bothers you so much? If it's just about appearance, it's simply ours. But if it's about botched work, then get rid of it, why :)

It's not about the pillars, it's about the walls between the pillars.
At first glance it just looks wrong because you normally don't build walls like that.
If you like it, that's fine. If it doesn't hold, you have a warranty. But since there are already several properties with it, it must work.
