Use the excavated soil for filling, that saves topsoil which you would otherwise need. Or is your soil that bad?
It's just forest soil. It's not the best for creating a garden. It is said to be very "acidic." Even though the neighbor managed to design a garden without removing and filling (he is a gardener himself and managing director of a landscaping company), I don't really dare to do that.
I will mention it to the excavator whether the excavated soil can be mixed with the topsoil, so that at least transporting it away is avoided and less needs to be brought in...
