No, our building application was approved after 6 weeks. And there were 4 authorities involved. 2 phone calls with the clerk from the building department, who assured me right at the beginning that it would not take longer than 2 months. At the agreed follow-up appointment, the decision was already out. The municipality also handled its part at short notice despite necessary changes to the driveway. The driveway was then approved separately.

The planner and I are in constant contact with the forestry and building authorities. But it hardly helps. A processing time of 8 months is apparently not uncommon.

At some point you have downtime, it doesn't have to be the waiting for the building application. A construction site also sometimes lies "idle" for about a week.

Cute! For us, it was two years because the municipality didn’t want to.
In a neighboring municipality, a builder is now disputing for 5 years – and the administrative court is on his side. That also hasn’t resulted in the start of construction yet.
So 8 months is really nice to have!

Surely sometimes it goes faster for a few lucky ones and usually for standardized procedures (finished building area with developer usually goes smoothly), but most have to show nerves.
If you already lose your composure now, you’re going to have a crisis during construction.

I always recommend taking good care of the construction crew. For us, they even got a fridge in the finished basement to keep their snacks cool. Drinks were a given and preferences were considered, sweets were always there and gladly taken, and in the final phase, when the freezer was moved, there was also ice cream to get from the freezer themselves (summer 2019 was hot).
We had a good atmosphere on the site and always nice people who were friendly to us and accommodating with a few extra requests.
I would recommend that to everyone.

We are building in the inner district. And two years ago, three houses were built next to us and another one is being constructed. So it is not comparable.

I have taken good care of the bricklayers from day one. They did not thank me for it. Since then, I have been somewhat demotivated.
