I found it very surprising at the appointment (due to my amateurishness :-) ) that the earthworker and the general contractor put so much thought into the heights and also included the further exterior planning. This means that the house will be built at street level (with a slight slope towards the street, of course) and the house on the right, which is already built, was also taken into account in the planning. I would have simply started digging, put the slab in, and placed the house  You never stop learning...

Well, the absolute height above zero is also part of the building application. They probably aren't allowed to build differently now. My [GÜ] even did it, but mine didn't talk to me about it at all. I would have liked it a bit lower. Well, whatever.

Yes, that is clear to me now. But as a builder, you have no idea what all has to be considered.

Yes, when you realize how much has to be decided beforehand, you only then understand how important it is to have a good specialist partner who guides you.

However, I also noticed with our general contractor that you have to follow up on many things and ask a lot of questions. Even though it is annoying, it is after all the biggest investment (apart from children :-) ) you make in your life. Even though the work of the general contractor is probably flawless (according to reports from the clients but also from the external construction supervisors), communication still has room for improvement.

Oh, children are much more tolerant of being "left alone" than building a house. Yes, the (lack of) communication is what annoys me the most.
