We were near Szczecin on Saturday at the specialist dealer for bathrooms/windows/doors. There were several companies in a huge building. I have to say they have a significantly better assortment there than Elements, where we were before. Also, the price-performance ratio is much better. And what annoyed me most at Elements was that there were no prices on the items. The saleswoman thought that if we are building, our budget is unlimited. Solutions we wanted, like the faucet in the bathtub, cost over €2000. In Poland, the simpler but equally good solution €500.
We will now plan and buy the two bathrooms in Poland.
I can't imagine that the quality can keep up with the common German manufacturers. You usually renovate a bathroom only twice in your life: once at the beginning and once at the end ;)
Accordingly, faucets etc. must last well 20-30 years.
Personally, I wouldn’t save at the wrong end here.
What is really overpriced in sanitary supply stores like Elements & co. are the bathroom furniture. For example, we buy those on the internet and install them ourselves.
Our sanitary offer totals €38,000 (for everything from the wall connection) for 3 bathrooms (shower + bathtub bath; shower bath; guest WC). Of that, €13,000 is for furniture & accessories, which we can get about €5,000 more expensive but higher quality on the internet. We decided on a series from Dornbracht, which is certainly at the upper end of the price range. If you take, for example, Hansgrohe, you’re probably a few thousand euros cheaper with the same functions and similar look.
And then second question. Parquet or tiles? We are now opting for tiles throughout the entire house. These, namely.
"We asked 10 people..." and in the end got 10 opinions.
Ultimately, it’s a matter of taste. If you ask me personally, I would always prefer natural over imitation. So why not parquet directly if you like the wood look? That’s how I would (and will) do it. But as you see, it’s a matter of taste.
Pro tiles: generally easier to maintain.
