The question about floors (in general, not just what goes in which room) is driving me crazy. I can exclude laminate because it's basically the "worst of all worlds." In the old house, we had tiles and fully glued vinyl. The vinyl was quite nice and also practical. But in the new house, I tend towards parquet because I never quite got rid of that "plastic" feeling from the haptics, look, and walking sensation. My husband is very skeptical about parquet due to maintenance effort and possible signs of wear. He remembers our wooden staircase. It was expensive and made by a carpenter. It was oak wood, smooth and whitewashed. Usually, people say oak is rather a hard wood. But the staircase already showed visible dents from toy cars dropped down from the children's room. Tiles in living rooms seem too cold to me. However, I would be happy if any of you have beautiful examples of wood-look tiles in living areas?

Tut Tut’s as a projectile smash everything into pieces. Our bathtub has scratches in the coating caused by the parts.

I was able to fill the dents in the parquet with hard wax, you can't see them. I colored the dents in the bathroom tiles with lacquer. You only notice it if you know. What is not repairable: Everything made of plastic.

I would also be reluctant to let your two little ones crawl around on "plastic." You can find many parquet supporters here in the forum, as well as many for tiles. With my youngest daughter and her three little ones, I am always "afraid." There are tiles completely laid on the stairs and on the ground floor, and falling (down) on them really hurts. They are definitely more robust and easier to care for, but tactilely, in terms of smell, and visually, I find parquet (my opinion) clearly nicer. Mine is oak, super resistant, and I like the naturalness it "radiates." Compared to a certain "coolness" that comes from tiles. I am clearly pro parquet. One of my nephews built a house two years ago: everywhere glued vinyl, another nephew (just finished) has a lot of light oak parquet. Worlds better visually as well as tactilely, etc., as written above. Of all the floors I know, the "best" are either solid planks (my brother has oak throughout the whole house) or wood parquet. Hopefully this fad of plastic flooring will end soon ;-) (I unfortunately allowed myself to be persuaded to put that stuff in my rented apartment :-( ... )

My ex used to occasionally throw dishes, which caused chips in the light tiles; on wood, "natural" signs of use would be visually much less noticeable (my opinion)

P.S. Smiley still don't work, how is it with you?

Definitely choose parquet! It feels super nice and cozy. And my tip: When choosing parquet, pay attention to whether you want lively parquet or not. Because we have that in one room, and we weren't really sure what that meant. There you can see many knots and different wood tones right next to each other. Some might like that, but it wasn’t really our thing. That’s why the other rooms all have nice, harmonious floors. Although now it’s not so noticeable because of the furniture/rugs, I would have preferred a uniform parquet after all. Our parquet installer also gave us bad advice. He simply showed us two nice, uniform floors, and we naturally assumed the rest would look the same.

I think laminate/vinyl floors are pretty much demonized here... In our current apartment, we have had laminate floors for 11 years (we live on the ground floor of a house) including in the entrance area. We walk through with street shoes on and guests never have to take their shoes off either. The floor looks like it did on the first day, I still really like it! In the future house, we decided on Modular One. We definitely have about 25 different floor samples here: laminate, vinyl, design floor, parquet. The floor feels good, has the Blue Angel certification and – a criterion that is not negligible for me – the decor color fits perfectly. For black-white-gray uniform mice, the search for the right wood color may not be so difficult, but for us it is. We don’t have white furniture, walls, or doors. Instead, we already have a lot of wood tones, striking tiles, even more striking kitchen furniture, so we are really grateful for the variety of decors in design floors, even if they are simply printed. But before I crawl on the floor or lick it :-) I look at the appearance first and foremost. That’s why, in our case: design floor.
