In the contract we have plastic windows, white on the inside and anthracite on the outside. Yesterday during the inspection, our builder said that the anthracite exterior color is subject to an extra charge, and if we wanted to have it white on the outside as well, it would be cheaper / we would receive a credit.
If you want a country house style, I don't really find anthracite suitable and would choose white.
I don’t know if it would still look that nice with muntins? The same goes for our 3-meter fixed-glazed kitchen window front. Would something like that also look good with muntins?
I can't really imagine panoramic windows with muntins; personally, that would bother me.
normal sliding door VS lift-and-slide system.
If it fits the budget, I would always choose a lift-and-slide door.
The builder advises against the lift-and-slide system because he says the extra cost is hefty for "hardly any more functionality"; he also says that due to the missing threshold people tend to step onto the system, which allows stones/sand to get in and can make the system stiff or, in extreme cases, damaged.
We had a lift-and-slide door in the first house and are getting one again now; we haven’t had any problems in over 10 years. And the kids ran in and out from the sandbox, didn’t cause anything at all. Our neighbors even threw out their normal sliding door and replaced it with a lift-and-slide because they found it much more comfortable with us.
We are undecided between satin glass or clear glass. Since there is a shower and toilet there anyway, we would always have a pleated blind or similar in front of it.
That's a matter of taste. I don’t like satin glass; it makes me feel cut off from the outside world. I would probably take a pleated blind that you can slide to suit yourself. Alternatively, you can also fit the lower window door part with privacy film.
