So I'm just going to say it: I am jealous in the best sense of the word. So in the sense that I totally approve of it for you, but I want it too!

Dear ones - 2 weeks have passed and it actually took that long until we emptied most of the boxes. The basement is still full right up to the ceiling, but it’s simply wonderful to see how this house was made exactly for us. Every item finds its place. That’s why I’m not afraid of the basement, good things take time. And we’re not in a hurry. For now, it’s livable and we feel very comfortable here. I also finally took a few photos for you today. Everything still looks a bit bare. I’m still having trouble hammering nails into the pristine walls. Above all, I can’t decide which picture / which decorative item should go where. There’s no shortage of stuff, there are still 3 boxes with pictures here in all sizes.

And another batch of photos =)

The utility room and pantry are my personal "Dreams Come True" rooms. I am already living the dream that I hardly have to deal with outerwear anymore. I have always been someone who uses no-iron clothes anyway. Now I hang the shirts on hangers, shape them, the exhaust air does its thing, and the next day I can simply carry them along with the hangers into the dressing room / closets. I am thrilled.

Of course, there is still plenty of decoration missing, and here and there a panel is missing / drawers and doors and lights still need to be adjusted – the usual madness. Kids’ room 2 and the games room are still in complete chaos. I will provide photos later. I still have to take pictures when the scaffolding is gone. I think the sash windows will look quite different then. Right now, in nature and in photos, together with the scaffolding poles, it looks rather strange.

We thought for a long time about what to use as a wardrobe. Because it was quite affordable in the quantity we needed, we ended up going with Ikea. I am really surprised and very pleased with how well it works as a dressing-room wardrobe.

It's nice that many pieces of furniture are made of solid wood and not chipboard and the like. The two dark vintage dressers are also great.

Does the lamp remain in the living room or is it a construction temporary fixture? Curtains?

Thanks, I eventually moved away from chipboard stuff because during my student years (like probably everyone) I had an extreme amount of IKEA furniture. They are practical, were inexpensive back then, and versatile – but they are also plain and after a while you get really tired of them.
In the office and in the video games room I still have some IKEA Besta. These rooms basically inherited the former student living room furniture.

The lamp is staying. It was too expensive to be temporary. XD We really thought forever about what to put there, but for me pragmatism was more important than looks in that spot. We already have pendant lamps over the island and dining table, and in the TV corner I definitely wanted to have something that doesn’t create reflections on the TV. It still needs to be adjusted so it shines into the right corners.

We don’t know yet about curtains. We had some in the old house, but even then opinions were divided here. Some find them old-fashioned (I wouldn’t care, half of my furniture is "old-fashioned"), others think they’re good.

I’d have to think about what kind of system to use and whether it would look good if only some windows get curtains. For example, I will definitely leave the kitchen window clear. I wouldn’t even know what to put there. I can forget about café curtains—I doubt I’d find a three-meter wide tension rod. Side curtains are out because they would be in the way everywhere.
