The question about the floors (in general, not just what goes in which room) drives me crazy.
Me too. Especially because the topic came up rather unplanned for us, but also because it’s not just a question of price and taste, but also of maintenance. And as a lazy person, I’m not really keen on regularly oiling parquet. How often you actually have to do it is still a big mystery to me. The manufacturers probably recommend annually, but it seems almost no one actually does that...
I hope that in the future this task will be reliably done by a vacuuming and mopping robot ;-) I am lazy too and have just oiled the strip in front of the kitchen unit. No difference to the other un-oiled area to be seen … so far …
I think laminate / vinyl floors are pretty much demonized here... In our current apartment, we have had laminate flooring for 11 years (we live on the ground floor of a house) including the entrance area. We walk through with street shoes on and guests never have to take off their shoes either. The floor looks like it did on the first day, I still really like it! In the future house, we decided on Modular One. We have at least 25 different floor samples here: laminate, vinyl, design floor, parquet. The floor feels good, has the Blue Angel eco-label and – a criterion not to be underestimated for me – the decor color fits perfectly. For the black-white-gray uniform fans, finding the right wood color might not be so difficult, but for us it is. We don’t have white furniture, walls or doors. Instead, we already have many wood tones, striking tiles, even more striking kitchen furniture, so we are really grateful for the variety of decors in design floors, even if they are just printed. But before I crawl on the floor or lick it :) I look at the appearance first. That’s why in our case: design floor.
Then your recommendation is unfortunately out... Didn’t you read all the threads about Modular One beforehand? We have it in the basement in the guest room and fitness room. I’ll repeat here gladly: a total failure. Visually, the whitewashed look reflects daylight very strangely so that it looks brown in places (ok maybe that’s only true for that color). I find it very sensitive for a vinyl and would never lay it on the ground floor. We have parquet throughout the upper floor. I sealed it once. For 3 years we have done nothing because the dealer drilled into us: less is more. Please don’t mop all the time even if the mother-in-law says otherwise. Eventually I’ll seal it again but that can wait. Totally low maintenance. It has nothing to do with the parquet of the past.
