The kitchen is coming. Despite all precautions and laying down protective covers, they managed to make the first scratches in our floor within the first 2 hours. The kitchen installers said it was the plumbers – they had set the dishwasher connections 6 cm too high during the shell construction, so it didn’t fit in the end. Now they had to quickly chisel out some wall in a rush and replace the two angle valves with this interesting construction shown in photo 3.

I can deal with the scratches in the floor somewhat, it can definitely be repaired somehow – besides, it won’t be avoidable anyway. People will be living there soon, with kids, so a little patina will come faster than you can say "oops." I’m just afraid to tell our site manager. He will surely be angry – he even said explicitly on the phone, "they should lay something down on the floor" and "they should be careful."

I do not understand this connection stuff. A dishwasher has a flexible inlet and outlet hose. Just like the faucet in the kitchen.

Our base cabinet for the sink in the kitchen is cut out at the back....

I don’t really get it either, but maybe the cutout in the cabinets is further down? So 6cm higher would really still be the back panel?

Then cutting out the cabinet would have been much easier…

I did exactly the same with mine. But who knows, maybe the kitchen installers have the instruction under no circumstances to cut the cabinets. More likely to rebuild a wall.

The cabinet was sawed. The dishwashers are elevated and go all the way to the back wall (they are XXL size). The connections have to go through the back panel of the cabinet below. It is designed to be sawed for this reason, which is why it only has a short drawer. However, the connections were so high in the wall (41 instead of 35 cm above the finished floor level) that the connections were practically behind the dishwasher instead of behind the cabinet.
