I can really imagine that looking great on your house! But I would choose internal muntins, meaning the muntins between the glazing. We currently have muntin windows in our interim apartment, and the cleaning lady really cursed a lot last week...

Do you already have a move-in date?

Unfortunately not. The plan is for the house to be sealed by winter, so windows and doors installed, etc. I am aiming for summer 2023.

In the previous house, we had muntins in the glazing. Definitely easier to clean.

But exterior muntins definitely look better ;)

That’s true, but I think regarding the U-value it would be better to have them within the glass. And also because it’s less effort to clean. If we use muntins at all, we’ll see.

Good evening everyone. :)

I have a small collection thread here for photos and construction progress for our second building project. We have already moved to the Palatinate to be closer to the construction site. Now we are watching with excitement and joy as our (hopefully final) dream house is being built near the family.

A big challenge we still face is the facade design. I love the Nordic style with clinker bricks and muntins. However, that won’t work here: first, no one here can do the masonry, and second, it would stand out a lot. It will be a plaster facade. How we want to color the facade and windows to still create some country house / cottage flair is currently still something we are pondering.

Otherwise, I’ll show you our plans here and how it will finally come together. The support pillar drawn near the kitchen island could be removed for a small extra charge, so it’s gone.

The room for "garden tools" under the garage will still get a partition wall for structural reasons. It won’t be fully developed living space like in the house, but underfloor heating will be installed, a lockable door, and a window. It is intended to house part of the building technology as well because the HAR is very small, and maybe serve as a party cellar.

We had 3 construction companies shortlisted. In the end, we decided on the "doer" — a builder who was recommended to us here through friends and family. No homepage, no smartphone, but he wears his work clothes on the construction site every day himself. He has a very good reputation in the area and rarely builds single-family houses anymore. We were a bit lucky through personal connections and a very long friendly first phone call that we got our foot in the door. So far, we are very satisfied with the decision.

I don’t really like the garden view. In one half of the house, almost too many windows; in the "garage part," virtually none. It seems rather disharmonious to me. I’m also rather doubtful if I want an entrance area in the sleeping wing. The supply routes from the garage to the kitchen are also rather long...

Aren't there some that can be removed?
However, I don't know if bars even match the design with the side windows.
In any case, I would sort the windows in the garden.

That is simply unavoidable on sloping sites that drop away from the street, if you want living/dining/cooking with nice garden access.
