Sorry.. I was mistaken.. the price per sqm back then was just under 44,- EUR.

That’s actually possible, although prices are certainly higher today. But we also can’t shop at online stores, we have local suppliers here that our general contractor works with, and their range is our specification. They can basically order anything as well, but of course our prices are based on theirs.

That’s always the annoying thing when tiles are included in the offer, that the range is then limited.
However, we didn’t have floors in the hallway at all. Ours cost around 50 euros/sqm, but they require special, expensive adhesive and a lot of grout, which made the whole thing more expensive.

Ah okay, I didn’t know that either. I am currently very grateful that we have absolutely everything included in the offer, right down to the exterior plaster and the satellite dish. The times right now are difficult to predict and we wanted to protect ourselves contractually as much as possible. At the moment, everything is going largely according to plan (except for a few weeks of Corona delay), knock on wood. I’m a bit more nervous about this construction than the first one, I’ll be very relieved when it all goes smoothly.

We also had everything “included“. But our construction company gave us a lot of freedom.. We didn’t like some things in their range, so we were allowed to order tiles, doors, stairs ourselves and it was fairly offset. The tiles (the travertine) were then laid by the construction company’s tiler. The stairs and doors came with our own craftsmen. Asking doesn’t cost anything.. ;-)

The requirement for special adhesives, mortar, or the like usually goes hand in hand with specific training / experience and courses. In this respect, the 11ant "stones" mantra definitely also applies to tiles – so here too, better the second most beautiful from the experienced tiler, rather than the main winner of the beauty contest, where unfortunately your own construction project would then be the tiler's guinea pig.
