We also have a slope and will definitely not plan a second terrace. For what/who?!
We will fill in, as much as we currently still have piles of earth left over from the excavation. That's quite a lot...
Towards the boundary, it will be secured with 1m L-shaped stones. Above that, it will be sloped off and the embankment densely planted with low-maintenance shrubs. In the lower, deeper area, more tall-growing shrubs or trees will be planted. That alone will make the slope look smaller. In any case, we will plant the embankment so that it completely grows over and hopefully requires no/little maintenance later on. This whole thing can be done easily by oneself (except for the L-shaped stone wall), and is not too expensive.
Some people in our neighboring village on the village entrance road have done that too. The result is a completely overgrown slope that can no longer be walked on or maintained. And on top of that, the houses sit. One person has now also put up a double wire mesh fence at the slope, presumably so that the children don’t try to retrieve their balls that rolled into the thicket. In another town, the piled-up earth collapsed recently during heavy rain and flowed onto the farmer’s field. In the development plan for the next new housing area, the amount of allowed fill has now been limited, since cases of "we ran out of money and just muddled something together" have become too frequent. :D
