Ok then again:
Drawer and basket each require two Ikea cabinet holes on the left and right sides for mounting on a cabinet.
So it is technically possible to design the setup so that in the Pax cabinet seen from the front:
2 holes at the very bottom = hinge
2 holes above that = holder for the drawers
The wire basket itself also has a holder (plastic) that uses two holes for mounting. The difference between mounting the drawer and mounting the basket in holes 3 and 4 in the cabinet is thus identical.
Even if it is not well regarded: The Faktum base cabinets of the kitchen are almost identical in possibilities and construction: You get door, basket, and drawer: The door is normally attached to the cabinet with hinges on the left or right (with Pax it is now 3, previously 4). The hinge is located in holes 1 and 2 in both Pax and Faktum cabinets.
If I now want to install a basket or a drawer, I can never put them in holes 1 and 2 because of the door but must use holes 3 and 4 with the holder. Except, and here is the difference, if I screw the kitchen door to the drawer.
