Why don't construction prices go down?

Very good, that clarifies the issue of illegal work as well.

Meanwhile, on the subject of construction costs: they continue to rise, but moderately, as announced last week. +2.7% for the new construction of conventionally built houses compared to the same month last year.

On the side: Globally, there seems to be a significant overcapacity in construction timber prices. Prices are approaching the lows of June 2020 and wood is apparently sometimes sold at 20-30% below production costs. This therefore does not seem sustainable and if anything arrives in D, it will again turn out that construction timber prices only account for a fraction of the total construction costs, just as the price of flour for a bread roll is almost negligible.

However, there is a lower limit. In the USA, even a homeless person has a footprint > 8 tons. In general, I am not a fan of individualizing the CO2 footprint. Because that takes the focus away from the one who is primarily responsible for greenhouse gas emissions. Namely the oil and gas industry.

You are right when it comes to the original source of the CO2.
However, the individual footprint is about a non-scientific justice argument. This is important within societies and between different societies on the globe when it comes to negotiating who should pay for what, who should give up what, and who should not.

At the technical level, the "only" thing that would need to happen is to reduce global production volumes – individual footprint doesn’t matter. Here you are, of course, completely right.
But how exactly do societies negotiate about who, when, and how has to bear the consequences of this simple insight? Exactly!

We have had different experiences with the construction costs. We already obtained quotes for all trades from June to September last year in order to get an overview of the costs before financing. Now we are at the stage of new quotes and awarding contracts.

Heating and ventilation system. Here we had 3 old quotes and 5 current ones + 13 percent. Probably government-inflated costs due to the heating subsidy. Or what do you think?

Sanitary has not moved downwards significantly.

Roof -5 percent (decreased material costs, especially the structural timber is cheaper in the quotes)

Masonry and concrete work -3 percent (decreased material costs)

We are currently waiting for the recalculation of the quote by our electrician

I don't understand. Now the oil and gas producers are supposed to be to blame? They ultimately only satisfy demand, nothing else. Or is Zwilling also to blame now if crimes are committed with their knives?

Of course, every individual is responsible for CO2 emissions and not some vague lobby group. You don't have to use gas, no one is forcing you to.

I disagree. Of course you have to use fossil fuels if you live in the First World. Not to any extent you want, but the choice not to do so does not exist. Even as a homeless person in a European city, you cannot not (double negative intended) rely on petroleum-based products. Suddenly, your footprint is higher by default than that of the majority of Africans. Being born into a society entirely based on fossil energy does not change the whole society with your individual demand. That is a fairy tale meant to divert responsibility from politics.
