Costs for district heating are exploding – and customers are powerless! (T-Online)
“For the construction of a house connection line about ten meters long, the connection to an existing supply line, and the commissioning of the transfer station, costs of around 50,000 euros can arise. Of these, the customer usually has to bear around 20,000 to 30,000 euros.” (Wirtschaftswoche)
Expensive district heating is causing worries and confusion among the people of Frankfurt. (Frankfurter Neue Presse)
Municipal companies face a “challenge of the century” The vice president of the Association of Municipal Companies, Liedtke, sees the restructuring of heat supply as a “challenge of the century.” However, the heat planning demanded by the municipalities is a feasible task, Liedtke said. For implementation, however, the entire heat supply must be turned upside down. Due to the high electricity consumption of heat pumps, the capacities of the power lines must be expanded in the future and a completely new pipeline network must be built for district heating. The connection to district heating can become comparatively expensive, up to 3,000 euros per meter, Liedtke explained.
This is what Mr. Liedtke told us in an interview with DLF. I have already read reports where 60,000 euros were demanded for 4 meters of road crossing for a district heating pipe.
With district heating, one is mercilessly at the mercy of the provider, and of course, they fully take advantage of this. Unaffordable in my eyes. And as I have written several times before, power grids must be expanded and district heating networks must be built. This is indeed a challenge of the century. It will take 30 - 40 years at the known German pace. We have already been dithering around with fiber optic expansion for 20 years alone and are still far from finished. I am curious.
Is that enough for now?
