Why don't construction prices go down?

Did you lay the dimpled membrane with the dimples facing outward? Why is that?

Probably the latest craze. If it was left like that, it is of course crazy but probably not too bad because it's dry under the balcony or just a small area outside where it gets wet. I really have to go check tomorrow. With all the many screw-ups back during construction, this probably wasn't noticed either. Things happen.

Nowadays, most baseboards are insulated. If insulated, no stud is allowed there because they can press into the insulation. The stud must face outward, but then the studded membrane on the side facing the house needs a (drainage) fleece. It cannot be seen whether one is present there.

Don't really worry. The base was a point of contention because it was insulated thinner than specified, and they tried to slip that by us. Then someone finished it off with probably even less enthusiasm than before, but always with the claim of particularly German quality workmanship. Meanwhile, everything has calmed down, the house has turned out nice, the stress is over, and as far as I'm concerned, it can stay that way, even though it's obviously unprofessional. Maybe in the summer I'll get ambitious and grab a shovel.

Hm hm. Don't pressure-resistant XPS boards get a full torching of bitumen sheets or a thick coating? Then indenting shouldn't be an issue anymore? And/or it gets plastered? I've never seen anyone just stick a studded sheet against the perimeter insulation and then dump gravel or crushed stone against it.

As I said, it was a long journey and it causes no problems at all, nor does it look like it will. If I were to walk through the house with reading glasses, I would still get rashes at times in retrospect of the partly hair-raising problems. But by now, I find the time too precious for that; life here is wonderful with or without [Noppenbahn]. It probably wasn't smart of that gentleman anyway. And who knows, maybe soon there will be a new, small house somewhere else, although it would really be hard for me to move out of here because we like it very much.
