Maybe. I just checked for electricians or plumbing in our area. There is nothing.

Of course, you need a router that can handle the data volumes and bandwidth. That’s logical and the first thing I buy as hardware when I book a corresponding connection. In the scenario you described, all the LAN sockets won’t help you either. Simply put, the bandwidth is too low then. I don’t know where you live now. But this scenario is one of the reasons why, for example, we decided against a house in one of the surrounding villages. The existing (and not the future) infrastructure was very important to us.

In Berlin! I have also lost my faith. But actually, I would be better provided for in a new development area in rural Brandenburg than in an old established settlement area in Berlin. But here you don’t have much choice either if you want to build at all.

Slow internet, but sexy?

However, the problem is not limited to Berlin. Large parts of Konstanz also only have a maximum of DSL 16,000 or alternatively cable internet with very poor upload speeds. The utility company does keep upgrading infrastructure whenever the street is torn up anyway. But for comprehensive coverage, it just takes time. Here, we do pay the monopoly prices of BLS and NetcomBW, but can get up to 500 MBit.

Sure you need the router. But guess how many people have zero clue about the subject and just swap out the old-school cheap router from their apartment?

Oh, the LAN sockets help a lot! They separate the heavy traffic of the stationary consumers from the mobile ones, plus LAN is usually faster and more stable. Thus, processing is faster. Of course, if the total bandwidth is maxed out, splitting it won’t help anymore. But with a 100 Mbps connection, you have to really make an effort to overwhelm it—or have several gaming teens.

By the way, is 665 mbps acceptable when you have booked 1000?
