You cannot submit just any proposals for referendums either. Germany has signed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and has a Basic Law. Of course, you can first ask whether to withdraw from the declaration and change the Basic Law. But as far as I know, you won’t get a majority for that in Germany (thank God). AND THEN many proposals for subsequent referendums are immediately off the table.

I assume that this topic will accompany us in the coming years, given the upheavals that are emerging. The last time, we were confronted with Agenda 2010 and the reform of the social systems. We will have no choice but to find solutions for millions of jobs that will become obsolete due to AI. There are hardly any areas left that cannot be replaced by AI or automation. And the value creation through the new technologies must be viewed differently than that of the previous means of production. But even there, everything to the right of the SPD screams communism!

By the way, if one assumes that the Bürgergeld is a reason why many people prefer to stay at home rather than work (for me, the proof has not been provided), there would be a much more effective method to motivate them: Reward and support those willing to perform. Higher exempt amounts, lower social contributions, higher minimum wage! Then working would be even more worthwhile.

For the school, yes, it is very sad. For us as a daycare operator, the municipality's proposal was invaluable and a nice bonus. They could have outsourced everything, and we would have had to figure out how to pay for the inventory.

On the topic of construction costs - it is a public building

In 2020, during the planning phase, 6000 euros per sqm were being considered. No idea why they are so high for a daycare center.
I don’t actually know where we stand.

LOL - With that, you could build two luxury daycare centers. And today, too.
