Have you also asked the craftsmen if they train apprentices? That is the other side of the problem, hardly anyone wants to train themselves. I see it with my brother, he does gate installations, has been looking for employees for years. But training apprentices himself? Nope, too much effort.

It really is not due to craft businesses that do not want to train. So far, 40,000 apprenticeship positions in the craft sector remain unfilled. You can quickly google that.

It is a mix of various reasons. Salary, attractiveness of the employer, development opportunities after the apprenticeship, and especially here in rural areas very important: the working conditions and working hours.

If a craft business stubbornly says they start at 7 a.m., that can be a problem for apprentices from the village. There, buses often only run later, and getting to work every day by parents’ taxi only works if it is compatible with their working hours. I recently watched a documentary about a carpentry company that has an apprentice shuttle and picks up all apprentices every morning and takes them back home. I call that a good idea.

But you assume that everyone has fiber optic. Far from it! We live in the city and don’t have any. They are only just starting to lay it. Guess three times how long it will take before they reach us.
On top of that, you still need a router that can handle consumers at very high speeds. Streaming is only a small problem. Let the kid play online games. Then it gets interesting. My neighbor (the one with only Wi-Fi) has a 100 Mbps connection. When the older one is gaming, he drains the connection. His younger one is currently binge-watching Ninjago. He always complains that the initial loading takes longer and it stutters in between when dad also gets online.

I know that too. There isn't even a plan for expansion here. DSL only goes up to 6 Mbps. That's why only Vodafone is left.

Homeway is a kind of multi-cable. You can connect sockets for TV, LAN, etc. to it. Accordingly, some wires from the cable are used for other purposes. A pure LAN cable does not have this problem. However, the electrician then has to run one cable for TV and one for LAN.
