Why don't construction prices go down?

All the craftsmen I have spoken to about this topic so far do not see that coming at all at the moment. You keep hearing the same story: You can't find new/good employees, additionally the baby boomer generations will retire in the foreseeable future and Generation TikTok is still difficult to enthuse for craftsmanship. The outlook for the future is already making many company owners break out in a sweat. Materials may become somewhat cheaper again, but skilled personnel is in demand and will therefore remain expensive. In this respect, the hope for falling prices is unfortunately more of a wishful thinking, at best there will be something like stagnation.

If you ask the one who offers the service, he will never tell you in advance that it will soon be cheaper.

So when a bricklayer tells me that his boss pays him the minimum wage for the construction main trade East (currently, I believe, 14.80 EUR?), I do wonder how anyone is supposed to get young people excited about this tough job with such wages. Especially since old-age poverty is practically preprogrammed, because neither a bricklayer nor a painter can work until 67 or 70...

That is exactly the crux of the matter. The trades would have to raise wages massively so that anyone would still come... but that is not possible because then you become too expensive, and the orders dry up.

It is no different in industry. I program special machines, and recently we were looking for an electrical hardware designer. There were applicants, we are not a small company... but the ideal candidate wanted a permanent contract salary right from the start.
We cannot operate economically with that nor survive in the market. And then it is better to leave the business aside than to end up losing money. Almost everyone faces this problem.

It does not depend on the claim, but on the reasoning - and that sounds convincing to me.

It’s rather the opposite. The better the connection to the rest of the world is, the more important it is that you also have high transmission rates inside the house. You achieve this by reserving the Wi-Fi for stationary devices with high demand (TV, gaming PC, servers, work computers). Not to mention that with concrete ceilings you generally have to set up an access point for each floor anyway.
I also find it excessive to install a double socket in every bedroom and children’s room as a standard. But I do think at least one connection per room is reasonable, and that was included in the specifications with my general contractor (specifically a Homeway system, but the electrician installed real LAN and TV connections).

What is supposed to be the difference between a Homeway socket and “proper LAN”?
