Unfortunately, especially the West German people have a completely wrong image of the GDR. Probably those who want to judge the GDR today haven't even been to the East of the Republic. After having experienced both systems, I would say, emotionally and socially, the GDR was the better system.

I don't want to long for it, and I am doing well today. But the people were also satisfied in the GDR. At least in our generation.

The politicians of the GDR made exactly the same mistake as the ones today.

And if I make a Habeck joke today or like a "Schwachkopf" picture, then I have to expect that the SEK breaks into my apartment door early at six. Such a thing didn't even exist in the GDR.

Critical citizens today are being observed by a politically abused Verfassungsschutz just like the Stasi did 40 years ago. Not to mention the unconstitutional restrictions of fundamental rights during Corona.

I was just yesterday at a specialized pediatrician. After examining our daughter, we got into a bit of a conversation. The statement was that the worst thing this society is doing to our children is the neglect of the education system. And the health system is also ruined. There are only a few pediatricians, specialists for children, and corresponding experts left.

The entire pediatrics (children’s medicine) has been run down through cuts.

And that today the new house and the fancy car in front of the door count more than happy and healthy children, I have noticed that for a long time. And I am not alone in that!

I experienced it live in 1989 on my birthday, as the family from Dresden "crossed over." On November 9th, it didn't look as if 100,000 tourists had stormed the crossings… The rest is again from the regulars' table.

What do you actually want to tell me about the GDR.

Unlike you, I was in the middle of it instead of just watching.

And if you want to know exactly. The proportion of down-to-earth and sensible people with an excellent education was significantly higher in the GDR. But of course, that doesn't count in the West.

The proportion of those who only have colorful clay in their heads today is by far higher throughout Germany. Not to mention the educational deficits. Another difference between then and now is that the media lied on both sides. In the GDR it was free, and today I’m supposed to pay money for being fooled.

But in my life until today, I have never paid the GEZ. And I will not do it on principle.

And when it comes to building. Money or a high income didn’t count in the GDR. Not whether you were a doctor or Stasi Major either. Only connections and what you could do counted. A craftsman could build a house more easily than the doctor. An average earner could also build. It was not a privilege of the upper class.

You just had to take the tiles that were available at the time, regardless of whether you liked the color or not. The main thing was tiles.

I don’t want to sugarcoat everything either, there were certainly enough bad sides. It was a nice, but also different life.

Ah - there it is again. The prejudice against the West. Fits your attitude towards taxes as well as the topic of undeclared work. We already know that. It was not available to 99% anyway, since everyone - except the political elites etc. - was equal. Yep - the ordinary citizen was fooled. Are you actually a Reichsbürger?

You don't need to try, dude... I've been living in the East for 4 and a half years... I'm out then. I will no longer participate in the glorification of an unjust state that had to imprison its citizens so that not everyone runs away...

My grandpa was, as mentioned, critical of the GDR. The mayor threatened him that he either had to keep his mouth shut or next month he would be in a gulag in Siberia. You can bash every politician in Germany here for pages, you were neither threatened with anything similar, nor did the SEK stand in front of your door. So please finally stop with your stories here.
