Why don't construction prices go down?

That it is still overpriced is quite clear to me - although inverters and modules together cost around ~5000€ depending on the supplier. However, that does not change the fact that a) not even 10 horses could get me onto our 50° steep roof at a height of 7-12 meters; b) the comparative offers were significantly more expensive; and c) the system pays off in about ~12 years even with relatively conservative assumptions.

That's not a problem at all, I also bought overpriced more than a year ago just like many others. It could have just as well been the other way around. We are not clairvoyants after all.

The problem for the companies is just beginning. The completely overpriced prices of recent years are now turning into a boomerang. They will lose orders and companies will be forced to lower their prices and submit realistic, commercially calculated offers again. Not to call out prices driven by a credit bubble.

This will separate the wheat from the chaff. It is always a difficult balance to drastically lower prices with significantly increased costs. Many will have no other choice or will go bankrupt.

In my technical sales department, prices are also dropping almost panic-stricken. First insolvencies of solid companies are already occurring. Sales promotions, discount campaigns, interest subsidies, etc. are just starting. Some are getting really scared. With the political situation in the background, I’m not surprised.

Oh boxwood, if only everyone knew as little as you do, the world would be much funnier. I'll tell you a secret. The pure material value in a car is probably about 10%. But such a press costs tens of millions. And since it's hard to work in rain and snow, a hall must be built around the press. And a road so the workers can get there. And, and, and. The clever car manufacturer includes all that in the car price, after all, he doesn't do it for his own amusement but because he wants to make money... and the employees do too, by the way. The calculation material price + the 2 people who put the stuff on the roof in 20 minutes is already too naive even for my 6-year-old daughter...

He wouldn't be the first to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair or drooling in bed because he wanted to save a thousand bucks and climbed onto the roof himself. Just the scaffolding that the ambitious hobby handyman has to rent to mess around up there for a week easily costs 1,500 EUR.

What technical products do you sell that you know so little about the matter? AA batteries?

You can't deny that the prices for photovoltaic modules have nearly halved in the last few months. Inverters and rails have also dropped significantly in price.

Have the offer prices of the photovoltaic companies decreased?

Wood prices have halved, steel prices have fallen. And exactly with these arguments of price increases in these segments, the high prices were justified.

If you pay 1500 for scaffolding for a week, that's not my problem. Especially since photovoltaic builders usually use their own scaffolding.

We are facing a very difficult year 2024. Unlike Bürgergeld, my already modest salary has not increased for 5 years.
What am I supposed to do now in my mid-50s? There is only one way. Reduce expenses and save.

And many people are in the same situation as me. It becomes problematic for those who have high expenses and cannot reduce them.

You can observe it very clearly in the discount store. If you go in at the end and at the beginning of the month, then you already know.

I've only been keeping a sidelong eye on it (we are still considering whether we can afford photovoltaic ourselves in the near future). But my impression is: yes, it seems to be slowly going down again. Maybe not in the area where the material has become cheaper again, but somehow in most areas prices tend to go up quickly and come down rather slowly... But in spring, for small systems (for those not building themselves) you suddenly quite often read about prices over 2k/kWp (which was roughly the offer from spring here by the poster) and that now seems to be decreasing again. You would surely have found that outrageously expensive too, and it's true that you can save a lot through own work. But I also don't yet know if we dare to do that. I feel like I've already spent hours reading up, and if we go towards doing it ourselves, that will certainly be many more. It's always such a thing when you have never done it before... and on a 40° pitched roof, for example, it's not great to just try it out and hope it doesn't go wrong. I think there are still enough things in the house that we can first get familiar with :)

We are currently comparing photovoltaics as well, 18 months ago 60K€ was called for 25kWp with a 15 KWh battery, now currently 30-41 K€. The requested companies respond very quickly. We will continue to look, our target price is 25K€ :)
