Hello.

We once had parquet flooring in the kitchen. We are actually very careful and tidy, but the parquet suffered quite a bit and didn’t look good after 3 years. There are always splashes from the stove and sink, and you might not always want to have to mop immediately.

I also don't like tramping around in grease splatters and carrying them further, which is why they are removed right away, no matter what kind of floor, that takes 2 minutes of work.

So if I have guests, for example, and say I make shrimp as a starter, I don't come in with the mop bucket before eating can begin. Especially if it continues afterward with steaks, etc. For that reason, I always found the parquet extremely impractical.

Whether guests or alone, whether grease or red wine: if there is wet dirt on the kitchen floor, it gets spread to the dining area (or elsewhere). And instead of a mop bucket, one takes a damp cloth and removes the little disaster immediately, before oneself or someone else contaminates the floor around it... It doesn’t matter whether it is tiles or whatever else...

Regards

I see it a bit differently. Especially during larger events and when several people are cooking multiple courses, a red wine stain, a drop of water, or a mist of grease can go unnoticed. When washing up, a bit of water also tends to splash around. We sometimes also butcher hunted game in the kitchen, so I can’t immediately wipe up every drop of blood. That is very specific, but I am firmly convinced that parquet flooring in the kitchen, depending on the habits of the users, is impractical to unbearable. Tiles can also be cleaned much better and more hygienically. Average parquet sooner or later develops "cracks," especially in winter. And nobody cleans inside them.
