could be yes.... however, in a wood forum I was told that no pests will infest once oak wood is dry. there are many possibilities now, but we have decided to move in now. although we have asked the floor installer for something in writing confirming that everything is fine here... just in case more appears soon.

Hello Khullx1,

how did the issue with pests in the parquet turn out for you?

I am asking because we currently have the same problem with an oiled oak parquet floor.
Installed in October/November 2019, now after a few weeks we are finding holes in the floor and have also caught a larva.
The holes certainly were not in the floor when it was installed.
The pests should also not have been in the house yet, as it is an old building with many wooden parts (all without pest infestation).
It is also strange that only certain planks are affected, just as you described.

It would be great if you could get back to me about this.

Thanks & regards!

Hello bdh3dld,
it was the same with us, oiled oak parquet (from Schwarzwald/Vogesen), we only discovered holes after 1.5 years. An expert we commissioned was still able to prove that the sapwood beetles were already in the parquet (existing feeding tunnels were also oiled). I can only recommend ordering an expert to 1. identify the beetle species and 2. have proof that the beetles were already in the parquet. Also, go to a lawyer so that you can properly assert your warranty claims.
Good luck!

I hope I still get a reply, since the thread is already old...how did the whole story end? I have very similar parquet from the same manufacturer in the new building and have now discovered such holes on 3 floors everywhere, which worries me a lot.
