It’s the same with us, even the stylish wood stove was slightly used. This way, great things can be realized and meanwhile we like furniture, among other things, with its own story. The search is simply done the other way around, we let ourselves be inspired by what is on the market; for that we take a lot of time and it’s fun for us. All things look like new and have high quality and timeless design, which will outlive us...... o_O. But I must also admit that as a young person I was different about this.... But that’s exactly where the original question from was heading, why people don’t invest equally in other furniture and design. In my opinion, that is clearly a trend, which is also reflected in countless cooking shows. As I have mentioned several times, something is wrong when you see the simultaneous explosive increase of food delivery services. When I rarely visit a furniture store, I definitely wonder which sofas or in front of which wall units young people sit or stand and apparently feel comfortable with them :(. The sadly copied design of lamps and furniture has also been discussed here before. Everyone should and may decide that for themselves. Nevertheless, I believe that you wouldn’t tire of valuable furniture classics, lamps, and other objects either; that usually only happens with trendy products. A really beautiful dining table, a stylish light fixture, a desk, or a noble sofa...... I pass by them several times a day and enjoy them. For example, we are currently investing a bit more in a staircase that we really like and that stands in the middle of the room.

It's quite clear: Whoever spends 20K on the kitchen has no money left for the designer living room cabinet. :D Living without a cabinet is possible, without a kitchen it's difficult, so the purchase order is predetermined. It will probably be similar for us, although the other furniture is not and will not be less high-quality than the kitchen.

A large part of the price of our kitchen consists of the electrical appliances and the lacquered fronts. Otherwise, we have no gimmicks that are presented as the must-haves of the century on Insta and the like.

We signed for 21k. The most expensive kitchen we have ever bought so far.

But I also wouldn't know when a sofa is considered "high-quality." From 5k or when it has R. Benz on it? In what price ratio would the other furniture have to stand to the kitchen to also be comparatively high-quality?

That is the catch with this question. Why should furnishings that have been lovingly collected mean less demand than the new fitted kitchen? Whether you spend a lot or little on design, whether the furniture is stylish or not – who sets the value? Why does it have to be the expensive design, whether second hand or new? The resident feels comfortable with and according to their own standards, but many devalue if it’s not “Benz” or the lamp brand that apparently has to hang in every household, as it is so hyped. I personally also enjoy every piece in the house, like to look at it, but just as apparently does it (at least that’s how I understood it), collecting design brands can also be quite cluttered or exhausting in one room... house.

Hm.....it doesn't have to have anything on it, and sometimes it also lies in the eye or feeling of the beholder when or why something is considered high-quality for them. Beyond a certain point, it's no longer just a question of pure quality, but up to that point it is. It's no different than, for example, kitchen appliances, tools, or beloved cars; sitting in a Passat isn't necessarily worse than in a BMW. It "doesn't" have to be, everyone simply has their individual preferences. My car costs max €2,000, a garage would be way too expensive for me, but for example, our selected lamp will probably reach the price of my car . Partly, we have furniture from USM-Haller, which is an invested value, as you can always resell them without loss of value. A well-maintained furniture classic hardly loses its value. But you also have to enjoy something like that; I understand others doing so, but I don't like it. In our open kitchen, the white kitchen from Ikea shines . So everyone has their values. And that's a good thing.
