that's true. my husband had to sell his usm furniture because i refused to live with office furniture. the price comforted him a bit over the loss. :D
Now your husband is forced to enjoy the antlers and corduroy sofa, or what? Did he give up that quickly? o_O You were just lucky that in the end he chose you instead of his fancy furniture. The buyer was probably one step ahead and traded the partner back for nice furniture. :D Office furniture... tztztz.... philistine!

I work in an office that exclusively uses USM. USM is the default system for furnishing office interiors. I don’t need that as a grid pattern in my apartment as well. My Finn Juhl sideboard won out there.
the described incidents came, among others, from children from families and circles of friends :D
Sure, it’s always the other children. ;) Today we looked at our new bathroom furniture at Scheibe. Absolutely high-quality, handcrafted pieces made of solid wood for about the price of our refrigerator. Maybe kitchens are just disproportionately expensive?
I think with the other furniture it's still due to our age, or the fact that there are still kids running around here who sometimes spill something or who unknowingly drop chewing gum onto the sofa, which you then sit on, or the cocoa flows nicely into the sofa crevices while you actually don't want to share the cocoa etc etc.. (Note: I have only 1 child, the described incidents also came from children from families and circle of friends :D )
That's exactly why I have no motivation to replace furniture on a large scale
