why are the switches placed so high on the right? I'd be curious what that is :)

Well, compared to various other kitchens here, it is rather small. But that doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing.

Those are the blinds in the living area, all separate and in addition a central switch for the upper and ground floors.

Report back in six months whether you are satisfied and the kitchen withstands the practical test. :) I still wonder why in Germany everyone installs the stove in the kitchen island and not – as I know from home – the sink.

Will do. I spend significantly (significantly!) more time chopping next to the pot and stirring or frying than at the sink – so that was the only logical decision. The island also had to be deep enough so that nothing can happen at the back. 1.20 m should be enough, I hope.
