Distance between island and kitchen unit ideally 100 cm. More leads to unpleasant walking paths!

We will really think about the sink. So, to do without the draining board. However, we only have a "normal" countertop (I can't recall the exact term right now), so no natural stone or similar. I always wash pots by hand despite having a dishwasher, and I can't put them on the countertop to drain—what do you think?

"Normal" countertops are now quite durable. As a substitute for a draining area, you can easily use a dish towel.

If I quickly rinse something while cooking (pots don’t necessarily go into the dishwasher for me either), I usually dry it right away and put it away because it annoys me when things are left lying around. I need the dish towel solution when I wash my lead crystal glasses (which are not dishwasher safe). Otherwise, as I said, I rinse and put things away immediately.

I would also do without the draining area; unfortunately, we did it wrong as well. Although we wash knives and large pots by hand, I prefer to have a dish towel lying there. Everything else causes ugly limescale marks and also scratches, etc., from use.

We have also done without the draining board, however the countertop is made of ceramic.

I will take a look at a few more sinks. I have to admit that I never really thought much about the sink; for me, a draining board always just belonged to it, and that was that. But without it, there would be more space that could be used more effectively instead of letting the pot drain for 10 minutes. Thanks for the idea!
