Take old/previous furniture to the new house or get "everything" new?

Most of it was also taken with us. The kitchen was slightly remodeled by me, and a new countertop was installed. The only new things were the couch and bathroom furniture. Additionally, I built a built-in wardrobe in the hallway. We also needed a few Ikea-Ivar parts for the storage rooms. The previous couch and a used wall unit from a friend were placed in the guest/office room. Soon after, the dining table and chairs were replaced. Many things will now be replaced gradually during the first major renovation of the individual rooms.

So, what I would advise against is taking the kitchen with you and supplementing it. We did that and financially it was not comparable to buying new. The rest of our furniture all went along and will be moved again now, or individual parts exchanged and/or supplemented. We also make sure in the planning of our house that the existing furniture fits in.

Of course, we took the kitchen with us - at least partly. We sold the still relatively new stove with the fairly new extractor hood. We gave away the old dishwasher. And the rest of the kitchen went into the workshop in the basement. Plenty of storage options for tools, paints, craft materials. And not to be underestimated is the beverage fridge in the workshop ... ;) Oh, and of course we treated ourselves to a new kitchen after all.

Yes, taking the kitchen with you is never worth it. It is extremely expensive to modify something there and it will never be 100%.

: So taking things with you is definitely not "out", rather incremental progress is "in". What I would like to mention: For our move, we managed with 2 small vans for 4 people with all their belongings. Some garden stuff and tools etc. were transported on various occasions by car to the construction site and into the house. We saved ourselves the moving company. The feeling was very liberating.

We take everything with us but will replace everything gradually.
Priority is the garden for now. We can still use our furniture.

We are taking our kitchen with us.
Bought it for 5k back then and expanded it by 6k now. Total cost 11k.
If we planned a new one, it would be around 15k. Still a 9k difference that you have to have first.
