As I said, I am not familiar with it and have the impression that the kitchen island only became popular among Germans with the introduction of the downdraft extractor in kitchen studios. That must somehow be related to the usage behavior in kitchens.

When food smells bad, something has usually gone wrong. Wouldn't a cooking class be more useful then?

Well. I love fried green herrings. "Scent" wouldn't come to mind for the olfactory experience of the preparation – and the result is delicious.

I mostly wrote. Modern extractor hood combined with old-fashioned window opening reliably drives away all odors, whether boiled potatoes are burnt or the fried potatoes develop a nice crust.

I only process green herring in a casserole, from my Norwegian cookbook. Relatively odor-neutral. Try frying it sometime. Unfortunately, the fish wagon doesn't come until autumn anymore.

Haha, my wife almost always hates my food! If it were about culinary compatibility, I shouldn't have married her. However, I doubt that there are many people who like to eat everything I eat. Apart from my mother, I haven't met any woman who is similar in that way to me.
