Ah okay, so the dimensions are actually almost like what I will have. And, are you managing well with the (storage) space and the work surface, the arrangement of the appliances?

I was also suggested the alternative of an L-shaped island to have cooking and washing on the island and more storage space on the wall… However, I fear that it would be too cramped for a rather small room

So, contrary to many opinions here, it currently fits us perfectly like this. However, I am also happy when our pantry is finished and I can store a few more groceries there (especially bulk packs or canned goods) - but it would work as it is. Especially on the front side of the island, there is still a lot of storage "left over." Here, all the chopping is done only on the island, which is great for my little one, who stands on the learning tower and has room to help a bit. We had also considered L-shaped, but that would have felt too cramped for us. We are very satisfied like this. :)
