So I might still be able to warm up to the tiles, but the zigzag line at the transition is just not my thing... I would have gone with the wooden floor all the way anyway. But I really like the kitchen! However, I would probably have put the cooktop on the wall and used the island purely as a work island—based on my observation that you spend relatively little time at the stove but a lot of time on the work surface. I know, though, that most people (probably influenced by various cooking shows) usually do it like this. It's also pointless to argue about it, the kitchen is already there. I don’t think having the heating distributor in the pantry is a bad idea (in our place it’s in the closet in the dressing room, I find it better that way!). In case of doubt, you can put things in front of it that can quickly be moved aside if necessary (plastic collection basket, beer crate, water crate, juice crate, etc...).

I really wanted that because I just don’t like such a straight edge

Just drive by, it’s not that far from Passau No, I can post some when I have good ones.

We’ll see, that was the reason why we didn’t put these tiles in the shower as well.

We also discussed it, but then my wife didn’t want that and I didn’t really care, because I like the huge window above the workspace, especially in the evening when the sun sets right in front of the window.

Just to pick up on that: I don't imagine it to be difficult at all. I wouldn't put a freezer in front of it, but a normal cabinet/shelf is fine too - I would put it on wheels and, if necessary, attach a hook on the wall above that can be unhooked.

I don't have any pictures of a finished kitchen yet, but at least a 3D view. It is an open kitchen that adjoins the dining and living area (behind the kitchen island). The kitchen area is 3.0m x 5.4m. Behind it, there is about 6.5m x 4.8m space for the dining and living area. Before there are questions about the fridge/freezer: yes, they will be "stuck" to the side because that's how we want it.

Feedback and suggestions are welcome!

Especially since we still haven't decided on the flooring. I really like a light oak parquet as seen in the picture.

Looks like our parquet - oak brushed, white oiled! Totally insensitive and I would choose it again and again!

I would leave out the two upper cabinets to the right of the window. It somehow looks patchy, especially with the fridge next to it. I can’t tell for sure if it’s already like that, but I would make the wall cabinet above the niche on the left side just as deep as the tall cabinets; that looks more modern and better.

With the cooktop on the island, and so close to the edge, you will often have grease splatters on the floor to the left.

The floor looks good.
