This is exactly how I plan it too! So far, I've been to two kitchen studios, and they both tried really hard to talk me out of it.

I think, on the one hand, as already mentioned, that the kitchen is much more present in today’s typical open floor plans. On the other hand, perhaps because many think, as also already noted, many think “it has to last 20 years” and be pleasing (!). And in the end, as also already mentioned, this is a subject area that is certainly not mass-representative. It’s just a kitchen topic.

Regardless of that, I wonder why one keeps reading here that “woman” chooses, uses, and cleans the kitchen. Here with us, it’s the opposite; my better half has not once stood at the stove since I discovered cooking for myself (about 5 years ago). In fact, we even had the kitchen built according to my requirements in terms of countertop height and workflows. It’s a hobby for me, and it has to work and be pleasing. Then it can also cost something.

In the end, you decide what you want or need, not the kitchen studio..

By the way, as a man, I was heavily involved in the planning. So nothing with just the missus in the kitchen. We simply ignored the first kitchen offer from Leicht, by the way. The current one didn't even cost half as much. Yes, we also have a piece of furniture from Roller..

My parents are 79 and 84, they had a kitchen custom-made by a carpenter, fitting perfectly into the wooden solid/block log house that was only built at a late age. The kitchen is probably about 25 years old now. It stays there as well, no soft-close, the refrigerator hinges have already been replaced twice, the bottom edge of the microwave compartment is softened, drawers with self-cut dividers :-), but not too long ago a 45 dishwasher + TOP oven were newly installed.

For us, the kitchen has the comparatively highest value among furniture.

We have again decided on white high gloss. The boxed-in appliance wall will be matte gray, anti-fingerprint coating (or whatever it’s called). Once installed, it should accompany us for many years.

The experience of the last 20 years has shown us that we have never grown tired of a kitchen, but certainly of other furniture.

Therefore, we are also willing to invest more money in the kitchen by our standards, and rather not in other furniture.

For us, it’s somehow not like that; over the past few years, this is the third planned/purchased and the fourth kitchen overall. At some point, you just can’t look at it anymore, or due to changes in habits and life circumstances, the kitchen has to adapt as well.

But yes, I would also say that the kitchen holds the highest importance for us. What’s standing around in the living room, frankly, I couldn’t care less about.
