I had once considered, every time I freshly renovated and newly designed a great favorite corner, whether I should create a thread about favorite corners. However, I briefly reconsidered why the kitchen has such a high status in house construction: because it is built-in and often far exceeds a "complete living room price" for many - usually.

Which is not a new phenomenon. This can only backfire on you in traditional families. My mother and my aunts all got expensive kitchens when building their houses in the 80s or mid-90s. The men, when it comes to renovation requests, say: "That was expensive! It's still good!" :D

My parents built in '78 and my mother cashed out her pension for the expensive rustic oak kitchen. She wanted a new one so often, but my father thought it was too much money. He doesn't stay there long either. Now my mom is frail with age and is happy again.
I often shake my head at how the doors already hang crooked and look greasy...
43 years! ;)

My mother also curses her 90s country kitchen in light gray. Five years ago, she rather angrily than precisely painted over the pink-gray Laura Ashley floral wallpaper. :D
My mother-in-law really has a problem. She inherited a top of the range 70s Poggenpohl kitchen in curry yellow from her mother-in-law because after building the house, there wasn’t enough money for a new kitchen. Great quality. Wonderful interior fittings, beautiful recessed handles. Apothecary cabinets, deep drawers, and everything you have today.
Unfortunately, it is trendy again today.
Maybe I'll take it over someday.

She earned the kitchen herself. It stays.
