The workbench
... does not fit in there.
At first glance, I find the kitchen successful and spacious. Black countertop, clean white fronts, a bit of gray/anthracite and that’s good, the lamps with the red textile cables round the whole thing off nicely. Also nice to add splashes of color through cookbooks, post-its, etc. I also find the view and the location in the room appealing.
(I hope someone who puts their kitchen up for discussion here can handle criticism)
But the workbench looks like a craftsman forgot it in the house of a respectable academic during a visit. It simply does not belong there. It’s like attaching a large spare tire from a Jeep to the back of a VW Passat station wagon, and it’s even a new, clean one with a polished rim. Functionally, such an elevated shelf with compartments is great. You’ll definitely find a use for the collets as well, but visually it’s not cohesive. Either a different shelf / elevated countertop looking similar to the rest of the kitchen, or a different kitchen for the workbench.
