Is a "Free TV" connection still worthwhile?

Interesting discussion! For us, the position "Sat connection flat rate" should cost 2,500 EUR (net!) - that's why we decided against it. The plan is via Internet, or possibly also DVB-T2, but later. Without a dish, there is also no shadow on the photovoltaic modules

For us, Sat flat rate cost 700 euros... I already found that expensive, the hardware costs nothing.
So on the topic: in the living room IP TV via LAN, all other rooms with Sat connection, whereby next to every Sat connection there is also a LAN socket.

With us, the satellite system in the offer costs about €1000, consisting of a roof tile with rod, receiving dish, LNB, wiring and sockets, although I currently do not know how many rooms will be supplied with it or whether a multi-LNB or a multiswitch will be used, I still have to clarify that. Variety of content: Even if you currently mainly use streaming, free TV could be an option in the future, especially when the children get older and might be interested in certain programs or live events.

There is nothing that cannot be streamed.

So that is not an argument for a satellite dish.

I also view a satellite system somewhat critically. I haven't watched free TV in 5 years. But it bothers me when I am dependent. I have planned a satellite connection in many rooms and had the cables laid in the attic. Eventually, if I feel like it, I would connect the satellite system myself. You can get a good satellite system for 200-400€. And each satellite outlet cost 70€ from the electrician. Thus, the investment costs are reasonable and you can become independent quickly and easily.

I am currently considering scrapping the cable connection - we don't bother with it privately, antenna is enough for the public broadcasters and the rest is Netflix.

By the way: don't you also think that this thread already smells quite rotten?
