We will have tiles installed throughout the entire kitchen/dining/living area. This way, everything will look nice and uniform. However, the appropriate budget should be planned for this. Bathrooms, hallway, and utility room will also be tiled, so that only the study in the ground floor will have a laminate floor. Upstairs we will lay laminate everywhere (except the bathrooms, of course).

Hello, I cannot understand when people lay laminate flooring in residential property. The floor is impractical, unnatural, and not very durable. The extra cost for decent engineered parquet is not too high. From my perspective, oiled wood surfaces are pleasant. However, like many things, every choice is fortunately a matter of taste. Well, one should not understand under laminate just the one from the hardware store, there is also high-quality laminate.

In summer or warm weather, tiles are a relief if you don't have a basement.

We are also getting underfloor heating and have finally decided: Bathrooms, ground floor hallway and utility room: tiles - all uniform. Kitchen/dining/living is a large open area: vinyl glued with a wood structure. We don’t really like tiles. In the bathroom they are practical and also in the hallway and utility room. All bedrooms and upper floor hallway: velour, antistatic, suitable for underfloor heating and soundproof. All floors are from the specialist trade. I also like bamboo parquet very much (it is also robust) but with pets with claws, experience showed that it may be even more resistant on the ground floor. Floor coverings, like wall coverings, are always a matter of taste. Although we were told tiles are the most optimal for underfloor heating.

I can agree with the last two sentences, but not with the rest. Why is laminate impractical and not very durable? The opposite is true, at least if you use decent quality as the benchmark. We would have liked to install oak plank flooring in the kitchen and living rooms, but for cost reasons we opted for high-quality laminate (Kronotex Mammut). We also would have liked tiles, but they were beyond our budget as well, at least not the ones we wanted. No question, real wood flooring is great and looks fantastic. But for the floor we wanted (no engineered parquet with minimal wear layer!) we would have had to pay at least three or four times more than for our laminate, and that wouldn’t even include installation yet... The floor can be easily replaced in a few years, but so far we are very satisfied with our choice. It theoretically doesn’t work quite as well with underfloor heating as tiles do, but it’s warm in our home.
