Good evening everyone
I have a small collection thread here for photos and construction progress for our second building project. We have already moved to the Palatinate to be closer to the construction site. Now we are eagerly and happily watching how our (hopefully final) dream house is being built near the family.
A big challenge we still face is the facade design. I love the Nordic style with clinker bricks and muntins. But that won't work here: first, no one here can do the bricklaying, second, it would stand out too much. It will be a plaster facade. How we will color the facade and windows to still create a bit of country house / cottage flair is currently still a mental construction site.
Other than that, I am showing you our plans here and how it is now finally coming together. The drawn support pillar near the kitchen island could still be removed with a slight extra charge, so it will be omitted.
The room for "garden tools" under the garage will get a partition wall for the statics. It will not be fully developed living space like in the house, but there will be underfloor heating, a lockable door & a window. It should then house some of the building technology alongside the garden tools because the HAR is very small, and maybe serve as a party cellar.
We had 3 construction companies in the close selection. In the end, we decided on the "doer" – a builder who was recommended to us here by friends and family. No homepage, no smartphone, but he himself is on site every day in his overalls. He has a very good reputation in this area and hardly ever builds single-family houses anymore. We were a bit lucky thanks to connections, and a very long, pleasant initial phone call that got us a foot in the door. So far we are very satisfied with the decision.
