From practical experience, I would recommend at least 65 inches. If optimal, then 75 inches with HD or 4k. By the way, I am very satisfied with our Sony.

You are actually spoiled
Not that the next TV we get will be 32'' again... no, it will be bigger.
But the last time we were at MM, it ended up being 42/46 or so.
It's very likely a matter of getting used to it... first bigger, then the addiction comes... like with tattoos: once there's one, the body gets messed up

There are no standard sizes for sofas, but minimum sizes. I would always calculate 1 meter depth for sofas, and 1 meter width per seat.
No furniture stands directly against the wall, always some space.
A 6-seater dining table is 80/180, but gladly also 90/200

The women always say when the new TV arrives "No way, it's way too big," then it stands/hangs in the apartment for 2 weeks, then comes "Honey, it could have been a size bigger."

As you say, it's all a matter of getting used to... but with 32 inches you really need opera glasses

We have 70 inches at a three-meter distance. I find that optimal, it almost feels like a cinema experience...

Maybe it depends on visual acuity and habit. Televisions used to be smaller, and somehow it worked back then. But for me, it can't be big enough. And when I look at the recommendations from various technology magazines, for example [60 inch at 2.5m] - then maybe I'm not so alone with my preference after all.
