Such great projects here, I am thrilled! I always find it exciting how individual gardens can be.

Our garden in June is a real paradise. The first rose bloom is almost over now. The hydrangeas are starting. My perennial beds have turned out great, pictures will follow in the next few days. Sour cherry harvest, rhubarb, and elderflower are done, soon the crabapple will come. Strawberries are coming to an end (but my climbing strawberries are just starting), the raspberries are partly done, some are only starting now. The tomatoes and other vegetables have also been thriving so far. The blackberry has more fruit this year than ever before. The butterfly bush shows its first flowers, it is wonderful. Our serviceberry was unfortunately ripe exactly when we were on vacation this year, so we only managed one serviceberry cake; everything else was already overripe. But I have to water regularly, even the rain is not enough for the perennials.

We are planning to build a wooden pergola next to the massive shed up to the plum tree, which I would like to shade with climbing roses. Below it, we would have to pave in a nice old style, "country house" or whatever you want to call it, in any case matching our old little house. But first, let's see what the budget looks like next year.

Oh yes, yesterday I harvested 1600g of currants, this time we will process them into syrup. Let's see.

Today we were also able to beautify our entrance area.

So, the vacation is over - but it wasn’t that relaxing after all. Forget about not wanting any craftsmen in the house. That didn’t quite work out...

But the outdoor area is almost finished. Last Thursday we were also able to pick up the entrance step from the stonemason, and if we’re very lucky, it will be installed this week, and then we will have a truly representative entrance! It’s the same stone as our kitchen countertop (muschelkalk) and with the same edge finish. We’re excited!

First, a few pictures of the now finally really finished terrace:

So now no one can look at our terraces anymore!

As for the stairs, we still have a temporary solution. The stairs will be made of steel and granite and will take about 5-7 more weeks, so for now my husband crafted a staircase out of leftover wood that serves its purpose:

A little proof of the full-blown paranoia of our neighbor:

We had just finished the railing, then this willow mat was clumsily attached to the chain-link fence so that we absolutely never, ever can look into the sacred property. Which we of course do constantly and repeatedly, especially because we spend time in front of the cantilevered garage (under the terrace – so where this mat is now).
To complete the schizophrenia entirely: the neighboring property has two sides facing the street (so it’s a corner lot) – from every centimeter of the street ANYONE who wants can at any time without much difficulty see right into the house.
But that 1.2 m next to our cantilevered garage, that apparently disturb their privacy profoundly.
One just doesn’t have to understand it – we just shook our heads. But when our gardener came by to drop off the last perennials, he nearly flipped out “what is this? This looks super shitty!!!”
Yeah, it’s not pretty, but since we rarely stay at that spot in the garden and we don’t have a direct view of it, we don’t really care for now. A climbing rose will be planted on the wall up to the railing, and the perennials in front will also grow taller, and then it will be even less visible.

The last part of the facade and the corresponding sliding door is finished too!

Now we don’t have to look at the garbage bins when we sit outside.

And what we keep doing:

And it’s already blooming! Our Annabelle has really grown and is flowering like an old pro:

(as you can see, I’m a practiced finger-in-front-of-the-camera photographer)

The Rozeanne (geranium) is also blooming so beautifully!

My so far only rose delights my heart:

And our velvet hydrangea planted just a few weeks ago already has lots of budding flowers. I’m especially looking forward to their blooms:

And here, still a bit meager, the perennial mixture for the beds filled with special substrate:

Under the balcony is a different mixture than up there in the sun. The one in the sun (also under the stairs and towards the neighboring property) is called "Feuer und Flamme" (you can google it and then you can also see what it is supposed to look like someday). We are curious.

But also from the perennials under the balcony, which only get very sporadic sun. We'll see what survives there.
