So ivy is really a great thing and one of the most ecologically valuable plants you can have in the garden. I have a large old ivy hedge and I am very enthusiastic about it. It is the last plant to bloom in autumn (October) and then full of insects. Everything really comes to it: flies, bees, bumblebees, butterflies. And in spring it is the first plant with fruits - they are ripe in March and the first fresh food source for birds.

We have an ugly wall sitting on the boundary. It belongs to the neighbor. On his side, it is covered with ivy, not much is happening there. Although there are different types. Who knows which variety. Let's see what we plant there. It should be nicely overgrown quite soon.

Ivy only blooms when it is very old, at 15-20 years. Ours blooms and then also bears fruit. But otherwise I just find ivy annoying because it spreads like crazy and I am allergic to it. We only let it stay on the old maple because it is useful for the insects there, but everywhere else we fight it.

He is older. He’s almost 40 years old. Neglected, never watered, hardly any sun

Just quickly photographed in the sun yesterday
The old pump stands next to our pond, but no longer works, it’s basically just decoration. I think it’s really great. However, the planting looked nicer last year

Otherwise, as a mini highlight, we still have an old tree root at the entrance of the property, which I decorate a bit. Unfortunately, I don’t have a current picture right now. I have to take one in good weather.

I also have a question about wall planting (concrete wall parking space see photo). The orientation is west-southwest, the wall gets full sun from late morning to early afternoon, then the wall will shade the plant. Do you have any recommendations and experiences? The plant should be perennial and it would be nice if 2 plants in the lawn between the fence posts would be enough to cover the entire area. Is this something for climbing roses? And wisteria and ivy are visually out... By the way, the crossbar is the beginning of the trellis, the weather prevented us from continuing yesterday...
