Let heavy cold air settle over Sweden and Finland first, when the Baltic Sea goes around 0, then the wind turns east and it sets off.

Two weather proverbs from here.

„Den Winter verwirfts“ i.e. snow at the end of November/beginning of December means no winter

„Der Februar macht Seins“ in February it gets cold and the snow is there.

White Christmases are also a myth here.

I am also glad that the rain is not snow. Last week there were 10cm and the first snowman. In a week it is supposed to be white again.

Heard on the radio yesterday whether there is any truth to this "there used to be snow more often at Christmas" myth. Result: No! Since the beginning of weather recording, there have been white Christmases in Germany every 8 years. Varies regionally. On the Zugspitze it was always white, in NRW only every 10 years.

- congratulations on your new achievement! May stones never cross your path and may there always be enough fuel in the tank

White Christmas? In my memories, we often had white Christmases when I was a child. So in the 80s. At least two years in a row - I remember that because I got skis as a gift on the first Christmas. Orange and made of plastic. Test ride on Christmas Eve in our street. Unfortunately, I crashed into a fence and one ski broke Those were tears... And the following year there were skis again at Christmas. The test ride on Christmas Eve was correspondingly more cautious. However, these Christmas celebrations took place in the Ore Mountains.

But I almost fear that it will snow over the Christmas holidays this year. Why? Because starting from the 2nd holiday I have to go back to work and driving 150 km in a snowstorm at 6 a.m. wakes you up much better than a big cup of coffee

So, in my memory there used to be one or two snowy days around Advent, but the actual Christmas Eve was mostly green. Frost often appeared around New Year's Eve. And it settled in continuously from January to the end of February, because the sea is too warm before that, then instead of persistent frost in calm weather conditions, fog forms. Just like yesterday. Today there is sun, also cool, but not cold. When the sea drops below 3 degrees, it gets interesting. The last severe frost we had was in January and February 2018.
