... after 2000 years of intensive care, the lawn will be quite acceptable...

My vegetable bed is moving again.. For that, I have now made the preparations in autumn.. But no digging was necessary! First, I marked out the garden plot. Helpful were long rafter nails and barrier tape. Size approx. 8x6 meters.

From our composter, I then spread the coarse, not yet decomposed parts thinly over the marked area. I got large cardboard boxes from our bike dealer. They are really huge and just right. Because they are now laid out overlapping on the area. Attention.. remove all metal staples and any adhesive tape beforehand! Since it was a bit windy, I used rafter nails here again and roughly fixed all the boxes. The cardboard ensures that the "grass" underneath rots. The vegetables, on the other hand, root through without any problems.

On top of the boxes, I spread all the soil from our composter. That was enough for a 10..15 cm thick layer! Attention again.. pull out the rafter nails in time!

Last but not least, a thick layer of mulch on top so that the soil is not left exposed over the winter and tiny creatures can do their work. We have a place nearby where everyone brings their grass clippings and leaves. I brought everything back to my garden :D. Best mulch!!

And here are a few pictures.. Best regards Steffi

I'm not exactly an eco freak, but I don't want to eat food that grows in soil under the cardboard boxes that are glued and have been God knows where.

Do you look at Marie's blog?

MDR had broadcast a report, cardboard in the bin. I have also buried unprinted cardboard in flower beds. It really helps well

With flowers I can somehow maybe still understand it, but not with food.
