Unfortunately, I am not allowed to name the newspaper, otherwise I will be warned again.

The strawberry farmer was listed with the food retailer. The retailer takes advantage of the short shelf life of the strawberries: "You have to sell. There is no choice." So the farmer took the only choice and plowed under. The loss is less than selling at the asking price.

It was not only about the prices offered by the food retailer, but also that more than half of the strawberries are waste, that German farmers have much higher labor costs due to the minimum wage than competitors from, for example, Portugal, birds that eat the berries because of the drought. How the strawberry farmer is changing to become competitive in the future without retail.

It is interesting and applies to problems that affect other agricultural products in many areas as well.

Hedge wild style. I love it. The bees do too.

(Please ignore the weeds, I took the photo immediately after returning from vacation)

New garden pictures :)

Today I harvested 1.5 kg of currants and immediately made syrup out of them, yummy! I leave the currants on the bush as long as possible.. then they get really nice and sweet. The grass-like plant in the vegetable bed is earth almond.. in southern countries they make horchata from it. It grows great here.. but you probably have to be careful.. it likes to spread. This is my first attempt. All the marigolds used as bed borders were grown by myself and the cucumber is allowed to climb the apple tree..

My currants are gone. Didn't get a single one. The girls, of course. Jostaberries will be ripe soon. Steffi, your meadow is still green compared to mine. Only the newly sown one is still doing quite well.

How do the tomato poles stay in the wooden slats? Or rather, what else besides the hole in the wooden slats provides stability to the pole?
