No fence is an option here. Big city, kids, dog ^^.

I'm slowly looking forward to the next gardening season again. My brother grows vegetables at our place, but I always help out now and then. Otherwise, I stick more to my berries, perennials, roses, and hydrangeas. Growing vegetables is somehow not my thing.

well, we don’t have a fence - just a hedge, once it’s dense, no one will get through the hawthorn either still, I like picket fences for separating areas in the garden - but my husband doesn’t go for it, he thinks it’s ugly

vegetables... except for lettuce, most of last year’s didn’t grow well, it was in the wrong spot. we’ll see, this year I want to try growing corn.

There is also a bit of city fashion in putting up fences.... We all agree with the odd house numbers on the street, from No. 1 to 9, none have a fence, only Thuja and hornbeam and privet, that is enough for a boundary. Those on the other side, with the even numbers, are former big city dwellers and almost all of them put up fences. They also have electric gates and doorbells on the garden gate. The neighbor has a dog, we have a cat, without a fence they have become friends, and I have become friends with the neighbor too.

I have also seen light barriers used as fencing. In new housing developments, the exact type and height of the fencing is specified here. So it is not always up to the builders. Fortunately, we have no regulations in existing buildings. With a pool, etc., it would be irresponsible without fencing. Especially since we also want privacy.

Brave Vikings have a stone wall.

And about the thuja, do you happen to have a cemetery on your street? Terrible plant.

No, we have a Jack Russell and I want to let him run free in the garden without having to be there all the time. I also want to let the children run free. Besides, everyone would let their dogs go in our garden without a fence, we live by the sidewalk. We only have 80 centimeters to the neighbors, that's enough for the dog. The other terraced houses don't have fences between each other but all around the outside. Hedge is not really my thing.
