We had minus 12 degrees C last night. So there isn’t much gardening going on yet. However, preparations are already being made. We are thinking about how to design our slope. It is really quite steep and the wood chips sink downwards due to rain, etc. The "lawn" is still a (completely) different matter. The considerations are leaning towards trying to build smaller terraces to make it easier to work on the slope.

I tried to capture this with pictures:

We will plant ground cover step by step over the next few years. Everything at once is too much. We have about 400 sqm of steep slope. At the public stairs, we want to try using wood chips and anchor a board across every 75 to 100 cm. I couldn't think of anything better.
In addition, the slope is overgrown and has always held steady. I don't want to cause any trouble. Not that the soil slides if it's not stabilized.
Well, and a staircase is supposed to go in
a terrace
Grandma's garden cleared of forest
a few perennials
the apple tree accessible

We have similar ideas with the boards and ground cover. Also steps up to the fir tree, which would be nice if a bench were to stand underneath. I also once thought about the slope slipping when I removed a huge amount of roots. To get the slope free of weeds ... unwanted plants ... takes me about two days. The slope is just inconvenient. You can't stand properly there. On the right side, the outdoor sauna is supposed to go somewhat into the slope.

Goes up to the tree. It's about seven meters of height difference or so

Our awning is now hanging on the wall. It was too windy to extend it today for taking photos. I will provide them later. At first glance, I can recommend the awnings from the company four-more near Mannheim. Affordable solid goods. Let's see if it lives up to its promises. The installation is, I would say, not completely easy. It requires some thought and at least two people, both somewhat muscular.
