Is the slope large? We combined Lonicera Pileata with some pruning-resistant shrubs because we didn’t want it to be too uniform. It works too ;-)

I would create a great rock garden. Cover part of it with the mentioned creeping spindle, which grows like weed here but can also be easily trimmed if desired. It also comes in different colors and is not expensive. And design part of it with stones of various sizes, with many different plants in between. If you like, also include a part with cacti; there are also frost-hardy ones.
